No CPMT this year, UP to go for NEET
LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh Combined Pre-Medical Test (UP CPMT) will not be held this year, the state government said on Wednesday.
Instead, the government has decided to go with the second phase of objective type National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) scheduled on July 24 across the country.
"It has been decided to go with NEET for admissions to state run MBSS and dental colleges. For admissions to courses under AYUSH, a notification would be issued soon," said principal secretary, medical education, Anup Chandra Pandey.
The government's decision has cleared uncertainty over UPCPMT which had left the aspirants confused. The central government has brought in an ordinance to postpone NEET until next year and keep out state medical exams from its ambit. The first phase of NEET was held on May 1.
