CET won't be postponed, says education minister

4/5/2016

Bengaluru: Primary and secondary education minister Kimmane Rathnakar on Saturday said the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to professional courses will not be postponed. It will be held as scheduled on May 4 and 5.

The education department was contemplating postponing the CET following the II-PU chemistry question paper leaks twice in 10 days.

Now, the DPUE will be conducting the chemistry re-exam on April 12. "Students have adequate time to prepare for CET. So we decided not to postpone it," the minister told reporters on Saturday.

Justifying PU education department director Pallavi Akurathi's transfer, he said: "We cannot blame her because she took charge only a month before the exams began. If it were an officer who had been in the department for a long time, I would have suspended that officer."
