CBSE's decision to reconduct AIPMT on July 25 evokes mixed reaction from students

6/29/2015

The Central Board of Secondary Education's (CBSE) decision to reconduct the All-India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) on July 25 has generated mixed reactions from tricity students. While a section of the students believe that the board could have taken the exam within 15 days of the last exam since the preparations were recently done by the candidates for the same, whereas a few expressed satisfaction on the decision.

Ruchika, a city AIPMT aspirant said the possibility of a tough exam could not be ruled out this time. "I think CBSE has given enough time to students to prepare for the re-examination. Though the syllabus just requires revision, but there is a possibility that the board sets tough question paper this time. I would plan a new preparation schedule as I do not want to lose any chance to secure good rank,' she said.
Sarthak Jain, another AIPMT candidate from Panchkula, said, "After completion of the AIPMT, I had joined many activities like driving school, music class and had also planned a vacation. Now since the date of the retest has been announced, I would have be back on my study table and put everything else at halt. I was badly in need of some leisure time, as I was preparing for the test from the past two years. I would prepare again with the help of my teachers at the academy as they have scheduled the test again."

Sharing some tips for students, local PMT trainer Arvind Goyal suggested that students should not panic and do self study rather than going for crash courses.

"Students should not lose their cool and plan their preparatory schedule again. They must understand that trying to learn new concepts at this stage may prove to be counterproductive. Self study of around 12 hours can prove to be fruitful. As biology is a fact-based science and it carries double weightage in this exam, students need to devote at least six hours on the subject. In the last 4-5 days, a quick revision of the biology NCERT textbooks, chapter-wise formulae list of physics and some main points in chemistry need to be revised," said Arvind.

An official statement was released by the board on AIPMT website on Tuesday. The notice reads, "In compliance with the orders of the honorable Supreme Court dated June 15 and June 19, the Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to re-conduct the All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Test-2015 on July 25. No fresh applications will be accepted for this examination and it will be a retest only in respect of the candidates who had applied within the stipulated time from December 1, 2014, to January 31, 2015, with a requisite fee."

The board had advised the candidates to stay in touch with the AIPMT website and ensure functioning of their e-mail id's and mobile number given, while submitting their application to receive the updates issued by the CBSE from time to time.
